• Function and Application

1.Converting Mechanical Motion into Electrical Signal: The potentiometer has a rotating shaft connected to the fuel control knob. When the operator rotates the fuel control knob, the shaft of the potentiometer also rotates. As the shaft rotates, the position of the sliding contact on the resistive element inside the potentiometer changes, thereby changing the resistance value between the sliding contact and the two fixed ends. This change in resistance value is converted into an electrical signal, and this electrical signal is sent to the governor - pump controller.

2.Accurate Control of Engine Speed: The governor - pump controller receives the electrical signal from the potentiometer and calculates the corresponding angle of the governor motor based on this signal. Then, it sends a signal to drive the governor motor to adjust the position of the fuel injection pump's speed control lever, thereby changing the fuel supply to the engine and achieving accurate adjustment of the engine speed. For example, in the excavation operation segment that requires high power, by rotating the potentiometer - equipped fuel control knob, the operator can increase the engine speed to obtain greater power; in the transportation or fine - tuning operation segment that requires less power, rotating the knob can reduce the engine speed to save fuel and improve operation accuracy.
